Nigeria: Onitsha Drug Market’ll Remain Shut – NAFDAC


Expectations that Onitsha drug market closed by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) over discovery of fake and counterfeit drugs would be opened soon were dashed yesterday as the agency said it has no plans to open the market soon.

Though the NAFDAC Director General, Prof Dora Akunyili had earlier said that the market would be reopened as soon as the screening exercise is completed, latest discoveries by the agency in Onitsha may have informed the decision to permanently close down the market.
