Florida man gets 13 years in Lipitor case

A Florida man was sentenced in federal court in Kansas City on Monday for his role in a multimillion-dollar conspiracy to sell counterfeit, illegally imported and misbranded Lipitor and other drugs.

U.S. District Judge Ortrie Smith sentenced Julio Cesar Cruz, 43, a Cuban citizen who was living in Miami, to 13 years and six months in federal prison without parole, Bradley Schlozman, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri, said in a release.
