Knockoff Tamiflu prompts trial

TRIALS will be held "soon" for the alleged ringleaders of a gang that police say sold 4.6 million yuan (US$575,000) worth of counterfeit Tamiflu – a brand-name drug that's believed to be effective in treating human cases of the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu, Shanghai police said yesterday.

Six of the 13 suspects detained in May 25 raid will go to court on unspecified charges in the near future, according to the Shanghai Public Security Bureau. The others will remain in detention while prosecutors consider charges against them.
