WHO calls for improved drugs controls


NAIROBI, August 15 — Lack of regulatory authorities on medicine has resulted in the importation and production of substandard drugs in African, World Health Organisation (WHO) has said.

Dr Peter Ereki, WHO country representative, said about 30 percent of the 46 sub-Saharan countries do not have a national drug regulatory authority.
