Russian probe finds fake drug market big


MOSCOW, Dec. 1 (UPI) — Sales of counterfeit drugs in Russia could be as high as $300 million annually, an investigation by the country's Interior Ministry showed.

Police found the number of violations found during the 10-day Operation Pharmacologist exceeded by 12 times the number of violations reported during 2005, the Itar-Tass news agency said. Most of the violations were found in kiosks (8,500 instances) and municipal drugstores (3,000).
