NABP RogueRx Activity Report examines illegal sales of injectable weight loss drugs

The NABP released a new report Injectable Weight Loss Drugs: How Illegal Online Drug Sellers Are Taking Advantage of Patients. It asserts that illegal sellers have launched thousands of websites to sell desperate patients substandard and counterfeit GLP-1 agonists like Ozempic, Wegovy and Saxenda.

The report summarizes government and stakeholder efforts to curb these dangerous websites, and urges pharmacists and patients to report bad actors to the Food and Drug Administration's Office of Criminal Investigations, state boards of pharmacy, state attorneys general and to the NABP.

Counterfeit versions of these drugs have already found in the U.S.: the FDA announced the seizure of "thousands of units" of counterfeit Ozempic in December 2023.
