Kenya: Standard Codes to Curb Sale of Counterfeit Drugs

Efficiency in provision of medical services may be boosted by a global identification standard, which will provide solutions to poor diagnosis, wrong prescriptions, expired and counterfeit drugs.

The benchmark will help reduce the chances of giving wrong prescriptions thus improving management and distribution of drug inventories, said Mr Joseph Nyongesa, the general manager of Global Standard Kenya.
"The standardisation is in its final stages and will ensure that all the products are uniquely identified worldwide," he said.
