The Sun Sentinel is reporting that a Coral Gables, Florida ophthalmologist at the Beautiful Vision Clinic is being investigated for importing counterfeit Botox from China to use on patients.  On September 11, 2019, investigators raided the office of Dr. Francesann Ford and seized boxes of Botox that they allege are counterfeits imported from China. U.S. Postal Service Inspector Ivan Ramirez told the Sun Sentinel, “This person has been visited by the FDA in the past, was warned not to do this, and continued doing it.”

According to Local 10 ABC, Dr. Ford cooperated with investigators and has yet to be charged with a crime.  The Washington Post reports that Federal and State investigators were led to Beautiful Vision by a special offer Dr. Ford put on the discount site Groupon.  According to the Washington Post, “Groupon is no longer working with Ford’s business and reached out to customers after the allegations were brought to its attention, company spokesman Bill Roberts.”

CBS Miami reports that investigators are now seeking information from Dr. Ford’s patients who may have experienced a bad reaction to the counterfeit Botox.
