On January 18, 2011, the SFDA announced that it had destroyed more than 60 tons of confiscated fake medical equipment worth more than 40 million Yuan in Beijing’s suburban Changping district, reports The China Daily.
In addition, the SFDA has cooperated with the Beijing police to detain more than 100 suspects. SFDA and local police investigating seven cases of alleged production and sale of counterfeit and substandard drugs, said the SFDA’s Deputy Cong Luoluo.
On Dec 20 five production lines were shut down by SFDA. In addition 60 illegal warehouses that had sold fake drugs via express delivery companies were destroyed. The drugs were advertised via online advertisements falsely the names of renowned pharmaceutical companies, hospitals and research institutes.
