New Patents in Anti-Counterfeiting Tech

Five companies have been issued patents for anti-counterfeiting technology ranging from packaging innovation to spectroscopy.

Securing Pharma reports that Microsoft, AlpVision, Axsun, AuthentiForm, and CSEM have been issued patents for anti-counterfeiting medicine technologies.

Microsoft has developed a method to create counterfeit resistant labels using unique images on labels that are not economically easy to duplicate, patented in the U.S.

AlpVision received patents in India and Indonesia for the development of invisible marking technology used on packaging and labels.

Axsun Technologies was issued a U.S. patent for developing machine-readable taggants detectable by Rama spectroscopy.

AuthentiForm Technologies (now CertiRx Corp) was also awarded a U.S. patent for a signature array of microparticles and other symbols used to authenticate products.

Finally, CSEM SA (Centre Suisse d’Electronique et de Microtechnique) was issued a U.S. patent for zero-order diffractive pigments (ZOPs) which provide packages with “very pronounced” and iridescent color difficult to mass produce.
